This Black needle tea, along with our Silver needle, is considered to be one of the finest teas in the world. This top-most grade is comprised entirely of gold-tipped new-growth spring buds that produce a gorgeous dark gold brew. After harvesting, the buds are painstakingly separated from the leaves by hand, resulting in an exceptionally high-grade tea. When oxidized, these gorgeous buds turn gold rather than black. Yunnan Golden Tips offer a delicate, savory flavor with an intense honeysuckle and woody aroma.
Our Yunnan Golden Tip selection is of an extremely high Imperial grade that is rarely found in the West. This is a truly exceptional and rare tea that offers the ultimate tea drinking experience.
Imperial Yunnan Golden Tip tea is loaded with antioxidants, particularly polyphenols and catechins. Antioxidants have been proven to lower the levels of bad cholesterol, such as LDL, and regulate those that are beneficial for our health. The antioxidants also strengthen the immune system and ward off cancer.
The main factor that contributes to development of cancer and many terminal illnesses is excessive oxidative damage caused by free radicals. The polyphenols and catechins in black tea reverse the damage caused by free radicals, protecting the cells and DNA, detoxifying the organs and getting rid of inflammation. Additionally, Imperial Yunnan Golden Tip tea contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which is able to enhance our sense of calmness and stress-relief without nullifying any of the energizing benefits provided by the caffeine in Black Tea.
Our Golden Tips tea is our finest Black Tea. Steeping 3 teaspoons of our Golden Tips in near boiling water (around 90 Celsius) for any amount of time will result in a pleasantly sweet and woody flavor. You can use a teapot (use 5-6 teaspoons for large teapots), use a strainer/infuser with a mug, or just put the leaves directly into an empty mug and drink the tea with the leaves loose in the cup. As the tealeaves begin to release their favor they will naturally fall to the bottom of the cup, making the brew more convenient to drink. There is no need to remove the leaves from the water at any point. When you finish your first cup simply re-steep the tea by infusing the tea with more hot water. This tea can be re-steeped for 4+ flavorful cups.
Yunnan gold tip premium*

The Yunnan gold tip is probably the finest red/black tea around. I have drunk it for many years. Recently the supply went cold and the offerings were 2nd rate. So I have not had the tea in 18 months. Until now.
This particular batch is very fine and right up there with the top grade. I don't describe teas but will say the color, aroma, and smoothness are spot on. When you brew it you must use enough of the leaf to get the character. In my 4 oz pot a small palm full is good
try 30 seconds for the first brew I usually get 3 or 4 brews . Each time leave it longer. The 4th one I will leave for any length of time and have it at temp or over an ice. Practice with this tea and it will really reveal
it's character. I hope Wu mountain will be able to source this grade reliably in the future. Good Luck to Wu!
